To Tell You That I Love You

To tell you that I love you, without expecting it in return

To sit calmly in the silence as rejection starts to burn

To tell you that I love with my whole entire heart

To know it when we’re sat together or when we’re miles apart.

To really mean I love you, with my heart bursting full

To not hide it or constrain it with human logic and human rules

To be able to say I love you without using the words I speak

As proof. As fact. As evidence, for the validation that I seek.

So I will say to you I love you knowing it as truth from deep inside

I will write them. I will shout them. I will wear these words with pride

But I ask you do not say you love me, if the words do not stand true

Just take mine and feel them fully, as my precious gift to you.
